RIDE New Orleans meetings for New Links Public Engagement

Good Morning,
My name is Courtney and I’m the Organizer and Storyteller for RIDE New Orleans, a transit advocacy group here in New Orleans.
I’m reaching out today because RIDE along with the Regional Planning Commission are setting up for New Links public engagement. Below are all the details but because I haven’t worked with you before I’d be happy to give you a call or grab a coffee to give you more details or answer any questions.
Check out the emails below and feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
We’re setting up meetings for New Links public engagement!
The New Links regional transit network redesign process is asking New Orleans residents to consider comprehensive changes to the RTA and Jefferson Transit transit networks in 2020. These changes are intended to comprehensively improve transit service to make it more convenient, fast, and reliable.

Public engagement is key to this process –  and the New Links team would like to send a representative to one of your regular meetings in January, February, or March, to briefly explain the potential changes and gather feedback and recommendations from your members.

Would it be possible to present at one of those meetings? We anticipate that presentations can be as brief as 10 minutes and feedback would be extremely valuable to the process.

Please let us know and I can schedule a representative to attend. You can contact me either via email – courtney@rideneworleans.org or phone 415-770-4452

The New Links process is a joint project of the Regional Planning Commission, the RTA, Jefferson Transit, the City of New Orleans, and St. Bernard Parish. A number of community stakeholders, including Ride New Orleans are also participating.

New Links kicked off in spring 2019 and is expected to make a final recommendation in the Summer of 2020. Currently, New Links planners are asking the public to consider resent three different concepts of an updated regional transit network in order to better engage the public in the discussion on tangible short- and medium-term improvements to the regional transit network. That is what we hope to present to YOUR GROUP in the next few months. Feedback from these engagement sessions will be used to inform the final New Links proposal, currently slated for Summer 2020.
