Tulane University: Center for Public Service – Partners Sought for Spring Human Resources Management Class

View this email in your browser
Ideally 2 or more teams will work with partner organizations, each focused on one topic that they could explore in depth for the organization.  Students will present their analyses and recommendations at the end of the semester for the partners.  If interested, please contact Prof. Ambika Prasad (aprasad2@tulane.edu) and CPS staff Sergio Vasquez (svasquez1@tulane.edu) for a follow-up to see if this project is a fit for your needs.

Partners would be expected to make 2 visits to campus (one in beginning, one at end of semester), designate a point of contact for the team liaison, and host at least 3 meetings on site with each team. Past projects have included preparation of job descriptions, revising HR handbooks, developing diversity workshops, overview of recruitment initiatives, creation of exit interview survey, etc.

Father Knows Us

Our heavenly Father knows us. Psalm 103:14 says, “He knows our frame” meaning he knows our makeup – our human frailties both physically and mentally. The verse continues, “He remembers that we are dust” meaning he knows that we have the propensity to fall apart, to become broken and our tendencies toward sin. Father looks on us with all our weaknesses and our failed mindsets and he bestows upon us compassion. He doesn’t quibble about how inept we are. Rather than nit-picking, he loves us right where we are. To read the full article, click here.

November preparedness tips

November 2019

Happy Fall, New Orleans!

Daylight Savings Time is over and temperatures have dropped. It officially feels like fall. And with fall comes flu season. New Orleans is seeing the highest rate of influenza-like illness in the state. Take time now to protect yourself and your family against the flu:

  1. Everyone over six months of age should get the flu vaccination. Find your nearest vaccine provider at vaccinefinder.org.
  2. Prevent the spread of flu by washing your hands often. Wash hands with soap or use hand sanitizer to kill flu-spreading germs.
  3. Cover your mouth when coughing & stay home if you or a family member is sick. If your children are sick, keep them at home until they do not have a fever for at least 24 hours.

If you are a medical professional and are interested in helping to fight the flu, join the New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps in upcoming flu vaccination and education efforts. Email nomrc@nola.gov for more information.

Until next month,

– The Team at NOLA Ready
Helping you stay #ReadyYearRound
