The Wage and Hour Division in New Orleans, LA, in partnership with Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana, the Mexican Consulate in New Orleans, Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) and Delgado Community College (DCC), invites you to attend this FREE educational event for employers and contractors. The event will commence with a plenary introductory session followed by several educational workshops. The workshops are designed to assist area employers and contractors understand and comply with workplace laws and regulations administered by Wage and Hour Division.The LWC’s Office ofUnemployment Insurance will provide an overview of UI basics. Human resources, payroll and contract compliance staffs in all industries are strongly encouraged to attend. This initiative by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor is part of a larger effort to connect employers with the information they need to better understand their responsibilities and obligations under the law.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission is an agency of state government that administers programs designed to enhance workforce growth and provide family-sustaining jobs for Louisiana residents. The commission monitors employment, administers unemployment compensation and tax funds, provides training resources for employers and employees and oversees worker compensation benefits. The agency also gathers and supplies information on the labor market and occupational sectors in Louisiana.

The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Workshop

Does your organization have 50 or more employees?Can workers take FMLA leave for on-the-job accidents?Do you and other supervisors know about complying with this federal labor law?
