New Orleans City Assisted Evacuation (CAE) 2017 Full-Scale Exercise, May 17th

The City of New Orleans will be conducting a full scale exercise of the City Assisted Evacuation this year ahead of the 2017 hurricane season. As part of the ongoing engagement effort with our faith-based and community partners, we’d like to invite you to join us as observers during the exercise to provide critical feedback for our planning efforts. See Flyer!

All individuals participating in the exercise (staff, players, observers and volunteers) must register at https://www.nola-fullscale.com.

City- Assisted Evacuation Drill

Hurricane season is approaching… join us for this year’s City-Assisted Evacuation drill!

We’re neighbors helping neighbors- we can all get out safely with the power of us!

Evacuteer.org is a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans that recruits and trains volunteers to provide hurricane preparedness and City-Assisted Evacuation (CAE) information to the community. Our Evacuation Volunteers (“Evacuteers”) also help facilitate the CAE in the case of a mandatory evacuation.

Every year, we work with the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) and other partner agencies to conduct a drill of the City-Assisted Evacuation (CAE) plan. This year we’re all very excited to partner with the University of New Orleans Center for Hazards Assessment, Response and Technology (UNO-CHART) to simulate New Orleans’ first full-scale exercise of CAE- and we need YOU! We are working to recruit hundreds of volunteers to participate in this exercise, role-playing as both Evacuteers and evacuees. The more volunteers we have, the better able we are to test these systems in advance of a real-life activation!

This is a great opportunity to refresh your knowledge of City-Assisted Evacuation, or to simply better understand it through first-hand experience! Lunch will be provided- please submit a Google Form response through the following link if you’d like to volunteer! https://goo.gl/forms/zLc0MgNQNdj68xmX2
