Capital Area United Way Disaster Application: Funding Organizations Active in Recovery of 10 Parishes

Capital Area United Way Disaster Application process supplements funding to a non-profit or currently funded partner serving Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana parishes immediately following a widespread disaster such as a hurricane, tornado, flood, pandemic or act of terrorism. Requests will be considered from organizations in pressing need of funds caused by unanticipated or unbudgeted costs for which there are no other resources, or for which available resources, both in-kind and monetary, have been inadequate to meet these costs. Applicants must be actively responding to immediate and long-term human needs through the provision and management of mental health services or by rebuilding damaged homes and structures. Additional considerations will be given to organizations working in rural parishes that were heavily impacted.

Procedure: It is the responsibility of the submitting organization to insure the application is submitted no later than 5:00 pm CDT on Monday, October 17, 2016. Requests will be processed by the Community Impact Cabinet and Board of Directors. Applicants must answer all questions in the space provided.

Reporting Requirements: All funded applicants will need to submit a standard report outlining the outcomes achieved and how the money was spent. This report will be due no later than 60 days after the funding is utilized. In addition, if funding is being requested for home repair and rebuild, a weekly summary of the number of homes enrolled, repaired and/or rebuilt should be submitted to Katie Pritchett at for tracking purposes. Funding Phases: Funding will be distributed in phases. Applicants will only need to submit one application to be considered for all phases of funding unless the activities of the request need to be modified.

Phase II Funding Available: $600,000 total to invest. Due to donor requests, special considerations will be given to organizations working in rural parishes that were heavily impacted, specifically Livingston Parish, Ascension Parish and St. James Parish.

Phase II Funding Eligibility: $50,000 maximum request per agency. This does not include Phase I funding that may have been allocated.

Phase II Funding Requirement: Money must be allocated to a tax-exempt organization. All organizations awarded Phase II dollars are required to participate in the local Long Term Recovery Committee or VOAD organization. For additional questions, contact Katie Pritchett
