Fourth Annual NOLATech Week Releases Current Schedule/Announces Marquee Events for October 10th – 15th
Weeklong Citywide Tech Conference

September 22, 2016 (New Orleans) – NOLATech Week will occur this year in New Orleans, at venues all across the city. Monday, October 10 through Saturday, October 15. Known as the largest free technology conference in the south, NOLATech Week released its current schedule of events today. (un)Conference attendees will have access to pitch competitions, happy hours, hackathons and free coding classes as well as roundtables and panel discussions by individuals from leading technology companies such as Sony, Microsoft, and the more.

NOLATech Week will also host the inaugural ‘NOLATech Week Digital Day’ on October 15th, 2016, which will take place at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, The day will focus on exposing our city’s youth to a variety of interactive technologies and programming. The day will include various technological demonstrations and workshops from over 30 local STEM related organizations and educational institutions. Additionally, for the first time ever, Facebook will also be in attendance. The social media company will be onsite in the Rivergate Room presenting TechPrep at 10:00 am and again at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

TechPrep is an online resource to teach parents, guardians and anyone who wants to learn about computer science and programming. Anyone interested in learning more can join the session, meet Facebook staff, participate with interactive coding demos and learn where to find tools to get started with computer programming. NOLATech Week will showcase the technology industry’s growth, not just in New Orleans, but around entire southeast region. Additionally, the (un)conference is intended to be a citywide conversation on innovation for social good, diversity in tech, and access for all.

“New Orleans has experienced a true renaissance over the past 10 years, and we’re thrilled to welcome more innovative businesses into the city, every year,” said Jason Seidman, executive director of NOLATech Week. “Living in such a culturally diverse and creative city allows New Orleanians the unique opportunity to utilize their incredible talents and create technology that makes a difference in people’s lives–not only here at home, but all across the globe.”

Current standout events include:

· Ada Lovelace Tech Woman of the Year Awards
· NOVAC and NOFF BitTorrent and Cinematic VR Demos/Discussion
· Free coding classes throughout the week
· USPTO full-day copyright, trademark, and patent seminar
· Startup exhibitions featuring over 50 local startups

Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to organize and host their own events throughout the week, provided those events are free and open to the public. Events can revolve around a wide variety of tech and entrepreneurial subjects such as tours of local facilities, panel discussions, workshops and more. Past participants have included those from a variety of fields, including teachers, lawyers, nonprofit leaders, food and beverage, musicians, and various small business owners.

Last year, more than 250 businesses participated in creating over 100 events, attracting 3,500+ attendees from all over the world. NOLATech Week organizers are expecting an even bigger turnout this year.
