Louisiana Healthy Homes and Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program: “Chat & Chew” November 9th

You Are Invited to a “Chat & Chew” Information Session

Lead poisoning is one of the top childhood environmental health problems facing Louisiana’s children. The most recent stats show that only 16.4% of children younger than 6 years of age were screened for elevated blood levels. More children need to be screened in Louisiana.

MEE Productions invites you to a “Chat & Chew” information session to discuss a new campaign to raise awareness about protecting young children in Louisiana from lead exposure and poisoning. The 90-minute session will be held on November 9, 2015 at the Ashé Cultural Center.

The Louisiana Healthy Homes and Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (LHHCLPPP) is sponsoring a Lead Prevention Campaign that provides parents and caregivers with information and resources to create lead free zones in their homes and ensure that their children are not at risk for lead poisoning. The campaign is also focused on encouraging medical providers to screen every child for lead exposure at least once by the age of 1. Join us to learn more about local resources and how your organizations can help spread the word and improve the lives of Louisiana’s children.

Because we value your opinion, we would like to get your feedback on our plans and what we can do together to let parents and caregivers in the community know more about how to protect their children from lead exposure. In the “Chat & Chew,” we will:
Provide an overview of the campaign and the various LHHCLPPP resources
Preview the campaign materials that provide steps for creating a lead-free environment in the home; and
Get your feedback on how we can expand the campaign to reach more parents statewide.
The “Chat & Chew” will take place on the following date and time:

November 9, 2015
11:30 am
Ashé Cultural Arts Center
1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
New Orleans, LA 70113

LUNCH WILL BE SERVED. ATTENDEES MUST RSVP.
